Why Town Committees are so important

Donkey and Elephant

When I tell people I am a member of a town committee, most people have no idea what I am talking about. I feel that town committees are the most important part of the political process, especially when it comes to selecting candidates for office. Town Committees give you access to political candidates and invites to events that most people don’t get invited to.

Most towns have a Democrat and Republican Town Committee. Each Town Committee is responsible for nominating local candidates for office. In Connecticut, Town Committees are also responsible for nominating members to the State Central Committee. State Central Committees choose the party chair and run the state party. Party politics trickles up from the towns. Read the rest of this entry »

Oh my! Birth Control hurts women?

It hurts right here!

It hurts right here!

The Screaming Headline: “OMG! Birth control hurts women! It is hurting society!” It’s hurting my head.

Like several on the right,  I do not agree with the government placing mandates in order to sell contraceptives for pharmaceutical companies in the name of worker rights or possibly women’s health. I mean maybe the White House is trying to prevent a new public health epidemic. Sure… that’s the ticket! However, Rick Santorum should really not talk about contraception or Libertarians.  He seems to be at war with them both. Read the rest of this entry »

Brown bag lunch with apple

Who should determine what your kids eat?

The old saying “Mama knows best” has clearly been forgotten in North Carolina.

While I was reading through the news today, I came across a story that made my eyes pop out of my head. The story was about a mother who sent her child to school with a brown bag lunch which the school determined was no health enough. The school replaced the lunch with the daily cafeteria fare. Did I mention the girl is only four years old?

As I’m reading this article, I started thinking about the terrible things this mother must have sent for lunch. Oreos and Ring Dings? Leftover fried chicken and soda? I know, she took Bill Cosby’s advice and sent a piece of chocolate cake! Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome to KlingtoLiberty

For months Kristin and I have bounced around the idea about starting a political blog.   We had a cool name KlingtoLiberty.  Kling meaning cling, but really being shortened from my wife’s name.  Since she is my inspiration for making a stand for liberty, it made sense. I hope you agree “k” is a much cooler letter with the Jefferson font in the banner. Read the rest of this entry »

An Open Letter to Linda McMahon

8/27/2010

Dear Linda,

Kristin and I would like to congratulate you on your primary victory. We know that you are currently trying to unite those who supported the other two candidates.  We wish you luck.  We both supported Peter Schiff.  There are a number of unanswered questions, which keep us from supporting you with the enthusiasm we had for Peter. We hope you will be able to address some of these issues.
